Terms and Conditions for Participation in Events Organized by Gothamachethiya Theravada Buddhist Association, Inc.

Thank you for choosing to participate in events organized by Gothamachethiya Theravada Buddhist Association, Inc. (“Organization,” “we,” “us,” “our”). By registering for or participating in our events, whether held online or in person, including but not limited to meditation retreats, workshops, and pilgrimages (“Events”), you (“Participant,” “you,” “your”) agree to the following terms and conditions:

ARTICLE 01: ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By registering for an Event, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, please do not register for or participate in our Events.

ARTILCE 02: ELIGIBILITY

Participation in our Events is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old. For participants under 18 years old (minors), a parent or legal guardian must provide consent by completing the registration on the minor’s behalf. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for granting permission and ensuring the safety, behavior, and well-being of their child throughout the Event. The Organization is not responsible for supervising minors outside of the structured Event activities.

ARTICLE 03: REGISTRATION PROCESS

Participation in our Events requires completing a registration process, which may involve submitting an application, filling out an online form, and obtaining approval from our Organization. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to accept or decline any registration.

ARTICLE 04: HEALTH AND SAFETY

You acknowledge that participation in our Events may involve physical, mental, and emotional activities. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and/or your children are physically and mentally fit to participate. By participating, you agree to release the Organization from any liability for injuries, illnesses, or other health-related issues that may arise during or as a result of your or your children’s participation.

ARTICLE 05: ASSUMPTION OF RISK

You understand that participating in our Events may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to travel, physical activity, and interaction with other participants. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation and agree that the Organization is not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury that may occur.

ARTICLE 06: REFRESHMENTS

The Organization may provide refreshments during the Events as a gesture of goodwill. However, participants are responsible for informing the Organization in advance of any dietary restrictions, allergies, or food preferences. While the Organization will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests, we cannot guarantee that all dietary needs will be met. Participants acknowledge that the consumption of any provided refreshments is at their own risk, and the Organization shall not be held liable for any adverse reactions or health issues that may arise. Participants are welcome to bring their own food if necessary.

ARTICLE 07: COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL LAWS

As our Events are conducted in various countries, you agree to comply with the laws and regulations of the country in which the Event is held. The Organization will take reasonable steps to ensure the Event complies with local laws, but it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with any specific legal requirements in the jurisdiction where the Event takes place.

ARTICLE 08: PHOTOGRAPHY AND VEDIO RECORDING

During the Events, the Organization may take photographs and record videos for promotional, educational, or archival purposes. By participating in the Events, you consent to you and your children being photographed or recorded and grant the Organization the right to use your likeness in any media, including but not limited to social media, websites, newsletters, and promotional materials. If you do not wish for you and/or your children to be photographed or recorded, please inform the event organizers in advance. Participants are also welcome to take personal photographs, but any recording or photography that disrupts the event or infringes on the privacy of other participants is prohibited.

ARTICLE 09: EVENT FEES AND DONATIONS

Most of our Events are offered free of charge; however, depending on the circumstances, the Organization may charge a fee for participation. Any applicable fees will be clearly communicated during the registration process. Donations to support the Organization’s mission and activities are welcomed and appreciated.

ARTICLE 10: CODE OF CONDUCT

Participants are expected to behave respectfully and follow the instructions of the Event organizers and instructors. Any behavior that is deemed disruptive, disrespectful, or harmful to others or the Event itself may result in your immediate removal from the Event without refund.

ARTICLE 11: CONFIDENTIALITY AND PRIVACY

You agree to respect the privacy and confidentiality of other participants and any information shared during the Event. The Organization will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.

ARTICLE 12: CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Our cancellation and refund policies will be outlined in the specific Event details. Please review these policies carefully before registering. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule Events for any reason, including but not limited to low registration or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, we will provide a full or partial refund as appropriate.

ARTICLE 13: INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All materials provided during our Events, including but not limited to written content, audio, and video recordings, are the intellectual property of the Organization. These materials may not be reproduced, distributed, or used for monetary purposes without our prior written consent. Unless specifically prohibited, free distribution for Dhamma propagation is permitted, provided that proper credit is given to the Organization.

ARTICLE 14: LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Organization and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your or your children’s participation in any Event.

ARTICLE 15: INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Organization and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your or your children’s participation in our Events or any breach of these Terms and Conditions.

ARTICLE 16: AMENDMENTS

We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website or other forms of communication. Your continued participation in our Events after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms and Conditions.

ARTICLE 17: SERVERABILITY

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
